The death of the Lebanese artist, George Al-Rassi, sparked a great controversy following the spread of the statements of an eyewitness accusing the ambulance of not taking the necessary measures for the artist following he was exposed to the accident.
These rumors and confusion prompted the General Directorate of Civil Defense to issue an official statement explaining the circumstances of the accident.
And she explained in the statement that: “On Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 5:00 am, the operations room of the General Directorate of Civil Defense received a report that a car had collided with the cement separator in the middle of the International Factory Road, so a team of specialized paramedics immediately set out to intervene in similar cases.”
She pointed out that “the specialized team had to use hydraulic rescue equipment, given the severity of the damage caused to the car, in order to be able to withdraw those inside.”
She said: “It was found that the accident resulted in the death of the artist George Al-Rassi and Mrs. Zina Al-Marabi, so their bodies were transferred to Taanayel General Hospital, following the security services completed the legal procedures.”
The Directorate regretted the human loss resulting from the accident that bled everyone’s hearts, stressing that the hypotheses circulated on some social networking sites “believe the truth, and offend the efficiency and dedication of civil defense paramedics, who constantly follow successive training courses by experts holding international certificates in the field.” Rescue and Ambulance.
The General Directorate extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the accident, and hoped the pioneers of social media to be careful when circulating news of such a painful incident, stressing that the civil defense personnel remain fully prepared to respond to the call of humanity.
