Boston may apply for Disable Player Option after Gallinari’s injury

Danilo Gallinari’s injury might generate movement in the Boston Celtics. As reported by Bobby Marks, a journalist for ESPNthose from Massachusetts may request the Disable Player Option due to the long absence of the Italian, so that they might incorporate a free agent into their squad to replace the loss of the forward or reinforce any other position.

In the event that said request is accepted, the Celtics will obtain an exception equivalent to 50% of the salary that Gallinari had agreed for this season, that is, 3.2 million dollars. In order to use this exception, they need to have a free slot in the template, a requirement that they meet for now but that they must take into account in case of making additions to the template.

Danilo joined Boston following being cut by the Spurs, but a torn cruciate ligament during his international commitments has caused him to be sidelined without having made his debut with the Greens shirt. The Italian arrived as a reinforcement for the second unit following averaging 11.7 points with the Atlanta Hawks last season, but it seems that Udoka’s men will have to do without his services and look for an alternative.
