A breakdown of a boat from the Belle Epoque fleet of the CGN broke down on Saturday followingnoon off Corsier (VD). Around 100 passengers on board had to be taken to another ship in Geneva.
The “Rhône” encountered a technical problem around 4:00 p.m. forcing it to stop. A hydraulic pump blocked preventing the steam engine from working, the CGN said in a press release early Saturday evening.
The hundred passengers were brought back by a motor boat to Geneva. They were welcomed by the marketing director Florentine Baron Pailhès around 5:30 p.m. All the races scheduled in Geneva will be maintained over the next few days.
The “Rhône” will first be moored in Geneva before joining the Ouchy shipyard to be overhauled. This steamer with paddle wheels is part of the Belle Epoque fleet of the CGN. A complete renovation of the boat has just been carried out from 2019 to 2022.
The boat was put into service in 1927. It can accommodate up to 600 people and circulates mainly between Geneva and Lausanne.
