traffic to Brussels is restored.

The left strip had been closed earlier in the day following a truck landed on the central berm near Tronchiennes (East Flanders). Two lanes of traffic are however still closed towards the Coast, causing approximately one hour of traffic jam.

The truck has been removed, but traffic to the coast is still difficult. “The sand cargo has to be cleared and we need a bulldozer for that. It is currently impossible to estimate the duration of this intervention,” said Peter Bruyninckx, spokesperson for the Flemish Traffic Centre. “At the moment there is regarding an hour of traffic jam. We recommend avoiding the area.”

Traffic to the coast from Antwerp can be done via the E34. From Ghent in the direction of Ostend, it is best to take the R4 at Zelzate then the E34.

The accident was caused by a burst tire on the truck, which then began to spin and ended up on its side. The driver was not injured and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
