Energy and war in Ukraine: Gazprom announces the “complete” shutdown of Nord Stream 1, “false pretexts” for Europe

The failure of the restart of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline – the main Russian gas supply pipeline for Europe – will not have an impact on the supply of Belgium, the cabinet of the minister is assured Energy Tinne Van der Straeten (Groen).

Belgium continues to send as much gas as possible to Germany and the Netherlands in particular

The Russian group Gazprom announced Friday evening that Nord Stream 1 will not restart on Saturday following the end of maintenance work. According to the company, an oil leak was discovered.

The situation is being closely monitored, said Minister Van der Straeten’s office. There is no impact on the Belgian gas supply. “Gas storage at Loenhout will be up to 90% within a few days, ahead of schedule. Belgium continues to send as much gas as possible to Germany and the Netherlands in particular“.
