Hurtful remarks, permanent dissatisfaction: a Brussels alderman in turmoil after yet another resignation in her cabinet

Zoubida Jellab (Ecolo) is the Brussels Alderman for Public Cleanliness and Green Spaces. But she is currently being talked regarding for a controversy. As our colleagues from RTBF report, his chief of staff has recently resigned. This is in fact already the third resignation from this position in barely four years.

The question then arises: why this series of resignations? According to the public media, the role of the ecologist alderman is no stranger to it. The RTBF mentions in particular hurtful or humiliating remarks, belittled people and permanent dissatisfaction of the elected official with the work provided.

In addition, our colleagues were able to get their hands on the mail recently sent by the resigning chief of staff. The latter speaks of “non-empathy” and of “cult of the ‘no right to error'”. “How many people have escaped from your office? For their health, physical, mental?”, he adds.

Alderman’s reaction

Our colleagues from RTBF contacted Zoubida Jellab to get her own version. With regard to multiple resignations, she speaks of a “chain of unfortunate choices”. She also explains the different reasons: for one, the current did not pass; for another, it is regarding professional misconduct and finally for the last, she rejects the accusations expressed in her letter of resignation.

She concludes by adding that she had to learn the profession of alderman on the job.
