Books – Hani Saber:

Today, Friday, September 2, marks the first anniversary of the death of artist Maher Selim, who left our world in 2021, following a long journey of artwork that spanned 170 dramatic works.

We review for you a situation that happened with Asmaa, the daughter of Maher Selim, on the night of her father’s death, and it was repeated with her father at the moment of his mother’s death:

Asmaa Maher Selim said, in an interview on the “Sada Al-Balad” channel: “I want to tell Papa that I am doing what we agreed on … Papa was telling me that I would sit like this watching TV and I would see you present and represent me, and Papa was not convinced of me with complete conviction until I entered the institute, And the doctors in the institute consciously started witnessing me in front of him, saying to him (this is more intelligent than you, uncle), and he was hilarious in general.

And she continued: “The day my father died, I had a theatrical performance and the opening of a play, and when I finished the burial, I called the director of the show and told him (I am coming), and he said (You have finished the burial), I told him (Uh), and he said (You will come where, you are going with your mother, for sure tired). ), so I told him (No.. I’m here to offer).

She added: “This situation was repeated with my father, too, and he told me regarding a similar situation before his death, that he buried his mother and had a comedy show, so the show went following the burial, and when I found the situation repeated with me, I decided to do what Papa did.”

It is noteworthy that Maher Selim, a member of the Vanguard Theater, obtained a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, Department of Acting and Directing, and held several administrative positions, including Deputy Director General of the Vanguard 2010, General Director of the Vanguard Theater 2012, Head of the Artistic House of Theater 2013, Adviser to the Head of the Cultural Production Sector 2014, Director of the Festival The National Theater in Cairo, March 2013, a member of the Supreme Committee for International and Local Festivals of the Supreme Council of Culture, received a scholarship in 1992 at the Silvo D’Amico Rome Drama Academy, Directing Department.
