In England, the trial of footballer Benjamin Mendy, accused of rape and sexual assault, has been adjourned due to new elements.
Benjamin Mendy’s trial in Chester, northern England, has been adjourned due to “additional information” that has come to light.
The lawyers having to study these new elements, the trial was postponed for a few days.
The jurors indeed listened to a series of messages between plaintiffs and Benjamin Mendy, and thus learned that one of them confided to a friend that she was already aware of the accusations of rape once morest the French footballer.
One of the girls I know was raped by Mendy
“One of the girls I know was raped by Mendy,” she wrote in a text message. “I discovered this today. It’s crazy! Yes it was recent”, reports C news.
This same complainant told her friend that she had been sexually assaulted by the footballer. “Mendy sexually assaulted me at the party. He just texted me saying I’m so sorry”she writes, before specifying that there were no witnesses at the time of the facts, specifies 20 Minutes.
A sixth plaintiff heard on Monday
In another series of messages, a complainant accuses the 98 world champion of having raped her in July 2021, while the text messages in question date from August 2021.
The trial is postponed until Monday, September 5. The sixth plaintiff will be heard there.
