A few weeks before the start of training camp, Kirby Dach has still not agreed with the Montreal Canadiens, but first information leaked Thursday on the negotiations between the two camps.

According to Sportsnet’s Eric Engels, one option on the table is a four-year deal with an average annual value of $3.5 million.

At the end of this agreement, Dach would not immediately become a free agent, but rather a restricted free agent. It was not until the following year that it might achieve full autonomy.

Dach, 21, was acquired by CH general manager Kent Hughes in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2022 draft, which took place in Montreal. In fact, Hughes traded Alexander Romanov to the New York Islanders for their 1st round pick and then traded said pick to the Blackhawks for Dach.

The big centerman was selected third overall in the 2019 amateur auction. He is still considered a promising forward, even if his NHL production, 59 points in 152 games, has been disappointing so far .
