Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawda, following his victory over the “Israeli” occupation in the battle of “empty intestines”, said today, Thursday, that “as soon as the freedom decision is issued, all misery, pain and hunger are removed from him.”
And earlier today, Thursday, the Higher Emergency Committee of the Palestinian Prisoner Movement announced the cessation of the open hunger strike in the prisons of the “Israeli” occupation, following the prison administration retracted the decision to arbitrarily transfer life prisoners on a regular basis.
Awawdeh affirmed that “the decision to freedom following this cruel and fierce battle, which exposed the occupation, revealed its true face and exposed its oppression, removes my pain.”
He added, “I did not fear for my life, because my slogan in this strike was a slogan I inherited from the greats in the history of conflicts, throughout the history of man.”
And Awawdeh continued: “We are a people who are not defeated in their battles, but we win or we die.” And he sent a message to the prisoners, saying that “achievements can only be achieved through sacrifices, blood and pain.”
The prisoner pointed out that he “craves to walk in the streets of his homeland unfettered, and to be free,” saying: “This is my eagerness for which I fought.”
In turn, the “Muhaja al-Quds” Foundation pointed out that “the victory of the Mujahid Khalil Awawda in the battle of the empty intestines, and his freedom, following he waged a heroic strike for 172 days, is added to the record of the captive movement’s victories once morest the policy of arbitrary administrative detention.”
For its part, the prisoner’s lawyer, Khalil Awawdeh, said that “the Israeli military prosecution pledged not to extend the administrative detention of prisoner Awawda.”
In March, Awawda began a hunger strike to demand his release, and his lawyer has said he has lived only on water since then.
In addition, Zaher Jabarin, a member of the Political Bureau of Hamas and the official of the Office of Martyrs, Wounded and Prisoners, congratulated the prisoners and the Palestinian people and all the free people of the world for the new victory achieved by the prisoners in the castles of families, which was achieved by the efforts of the prisoners and then with the support and backing of our people.
Jabareen said in a press statement that “what has been achieved is added to the record of the captive national movement’s championships, to confirm that the unity that embodied in prisons is able to curb any Zionist aggression that may target the prisoners in the coming days.”
And he stressed, “Our battle with this occupation continues, and we will not rest until we see all our prisoners are free outside the castles of families, and all means are available to achieve this.”
