It was first a real project (a priori), then an Arlesian and, today, almost a myth: Half-life 3 continues to make fans dream, although Valve has been talking regarding it for a very long time now… . It was however without counting on this slew of artworks, recovered by a fan.
Half-Life, like the wait time for the game to come out
The first two Half-Life have particularly shaken up the world of video games and we have now been waiting for almost twenty years for a sequel: Half-Life 3 is so desirable that it has become a recurring joke in the gaming sphere, a meme repeated over and over and which further reinforces the mysticism towards it. After all, you have to dream.
So, today, let’s dream a little with this handful of images published in a video by Tyler McViver, a YouTuber who absolutely loves Valve: he claims to have collected them from a friend, a passionate collector of Valve-branded products and goodies. When the firm moved, the latter would have contacted her to recover derivative objects or anything from the premises: he thus got his hands on a small loot… and came across artworks related to Half-Life 3.
Post-apo or nothing
These sketches – we obviously hope they are true – thus depict a devastated post-apo universe, much more than the Citadel and the surroundings of Half-Life 2 once more: we notice an unwelcoming desert, an even more imposing alien hold and machines here and there. We also see what looks like a new species of the Combine, akin to a horrible deformed worm or a rejuvenated version of the usual enemies. Hard to say.
Also very interesting, a visual of Alyx and her robotic friend Dog can be seen: an artwork that might correspond to the preliminary drafts of Half-Life : Alyx or to yet another project… Finally, several images of Left 4 Dead 2 are also found in the same document, a game that we have had, on the other hand, the opportunity to know up and down and across.
In short, that will be all for the daily dose of Half-Life 3 and to tell the truth, it is already a luxury. We obviously hope that Valve will reconsider the development of the game one day, so as to sustain its patient community once and for all.
