ASUS introduces Zenbook 17 Fold OLED convertible laptop with a flexible screen and a price of €3999

ASUS at the IFA Consumer Electronics Show shared details regarding an unusual transformer laptop called the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. For the first time, the manufacturer spoke regarding this new product at CES earlier this year. The company today revealed when this laptop/tablet hybrid, featuring a huge 17.3-inch foldable OLED display, will go on sale and how much it will cost.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED screen occupies 87% of its front side. When unfolded, the display has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and supports a resolution of 2560 × 1920 pixels. In laptop mode, the aspect ratio becomes 3:2, the screen area is reduced to 12.5 inches, and the resolution is reduced to 1920 × 1280 pixels. The panel claims 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 0.2ms response time, and 90Hz refresh rate. It also indicates that the screen has VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black and Pantone certificates.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will only be offered in one configuration. The device received a 10-core Core i7-1250U processor with two productive cores operating at up to 4.7 GHz and eight energy-efficient cores at up to 3.5 GHz. The manufacturer equipped the novelty with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive in M.2 format.

The novelty is equipped with four Harman Kardon speakers with support for Dolby Atmos sound standard and a 5-megapixel infrared HD camera with support for AI algorithms.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is announced to support Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E wireless standards with the exclusive Wi-Fi SmartConnect feature to improve the quality and stability of communication. It also indicates the presence of two Thunderbolt 4 connectors (USB Type-C up to 40 Gb / s) with Easy Charge fast charging and one 3.5 mm combo audio jack.

Zenbook 17 Fold OLED received a 75 Wh battery. The device comes with a 65W power supply. The novelty will also come with an ErgoSense magnetic Bluetooth keyboard with 1.4 mm key travel. Its dimensions are 285 × 182 × 5.5 mm. The device is running the operating system Windows 11 Pro.

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED Hybrid Notebook measures 378.5 x 287.6 x 8.7-11.7mm when open and 287.6 x 189.3 x 17.4-31.9mm when closed. The weight of the novelty without the keyboard is 1.5 kg.

According to the manufacturer, the device has been tested for 30,000 open/close cycles.

At the presentation, ASUS representatives emphasized that the design of the mechanism that opens and closes the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is very reliable, and its durability will last for many years of work.

The start of sales of Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is expected in the fourth quarter of this year. In the US, it will cost $3,500. For European countries, the device is priced more expensive – at 3999 euros.
