It has been confirmed that a police officer investigating the suspicion of preferential treatment for the development of the Gongheung district in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do involving President Yoon Seok-yeol’s mother-in-law Choi and his wife Geom Gun-hee was specially invited to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony.
An official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 1st that Inspector A, who belongs to the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency, was invited by the Presidential Inauguration Preparatory Committee to be included in the special invitation list at the time.
The official explained that the reason for the invitation was that it contributed to the prevention of overseas leakage of domestic core technologies.
The special invitees discovered by the Presidential Preparatory Committee are around 700 people including firefighters, soldiers, public officials, and the general public.
Several police officers were also included, including Inspector A.
The day before, the online media News Bus was invited to the presidential inauguration because Inspector A received the Blue Dragon Service Award co-hosted by the Chosun Ilbo and the National Police Agency last year, but two out of four police officers who received the award were not invited, and the other was recommended by the National Police Agency regardless of the Blue Dragon Service Award. It was reported that he attended the inauguration ceremony.
In this regard, Minjoo Party floor spokesperson Oh Young-hwan said at a briefing the day before, “The reason for the invitation is the Gongheung District investigation, as the police officers who received the Blue Dragon Service Award together did not receive contact.” “If the reason for being invited to the inauguration ceremony was not to influence the investigation, what would it be?”
