“The price difference with Belgium is becoming so big that we fear for the competitive position of our service stations in the border region,” said Johan Mattart of the Belgian federation of fuel and fuel traders Brafco on Wednesday. It invites the Belgian government to further reduce excise duties.
The federal government already applies a reduction of 17.5 euro cents on petrol and diesel at the pump. According to Mr. Mattart, the European regulations allow a further reduction, so that the difference with France, but also Germany, would be reduced.
