NNA – Tripoli – The Qaf Book Club honored the founder of the National Theater in Tripoli, Qassem Istanbouli, on the sidelines of the Tripoli International Theater Festival, which was organized by the “Tiro” Association for Arts, and director Qassem Istanbouli, on the stage in Tripoli, the “Ampere” cinema.
The beginning, with the speech of the club’s president, Dr. Aisha Yakan, in which she referred to “Istanbouli’s challenge in reviving the oldest cinema in the city to be the national theater, expressing Tripoli’s pride in this initiative in difficult times,” and said: “Our hearts grow with you, and we all I am behind you in this step, and in the hope that steps will be followed by it that will restore Tripoli to the position it deserves.
Istanbouli responded, in a brief speech, during which he expressed his “happiness with his presence among his family and in his second city, Tripoli, stressing the need for convergence between the different spectrums of the country.”
He thanked “everyone who contributed to the success of the festival,” stressing that “this festival constitutes a catalyst for more cultural events.”
The representative of the Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Judge Muhammad Wissam Al-Mortada Shawqi Yassin, and the head of the Cultural Committee in the Tripoli Municipality, Dr. Bassem Bakhash, pointed out that “Tripoli contains a cultural and artistic stock that has manifested itself throughout history, which can be built upon in achieving a great cultural renaissance.” Referring to the artistic and theatrical history of the city.
Finally, Yakan presented on behalf of Tripoli and the “Qaf” book club a shield of honor for Istanbul, as a token of thanks for his initiative towards the city.

He indicated that the festival was launched on the 27th of this year, with the participation of theater groups from Lebanon and several Arab and foreign countries, and concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates of participation to the competing teams and performances.
