ABU DHABI, 31st August/ WAM/ The General Civil Aviation Authority, in coordination with the competent authorities, announced the crash of a small civilian Cessna single-engine fixed-wing aircraft for amateur purposes in the outdoor parking lots of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque campus. immediately concerned with responding to the event.
The authority confirmed in a statement that preliminary investigations showed that the accident was caused by a technical malfunction while the plane was heading to land at Al Bateen Private Airport, and the plane crashed in an area devoid of personnel. As a result of the accident, the pilot was injured and he was immediately taken to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment and follow-up on his health condition.
All concerned teams represented by the National Search and Rescue Center, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police and the General Civil Aviation Authority coordinated directly to ensure the safety of the accident area. The concerned authorities confirmed that the safety of civilians is a top priority.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that it will initiate an investigation into the causes and consequences of the accident.
