“I’m not entirely satisfied with the way international suppliers talk regarding inflation and the kind of price increases they offer us. We cannot justify these price increases to support their profitability,” Frans Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize told Gondola, referring to tough negotiations with big brands.
Recently, this was particularly the case with Danone, with whom the agreement is not in good shape. It was through a poster placed on its shelves that Delhaize informed its customers of the differences in the negotiations concerning the price increases desired by the brand. As a result, as always in this type of case, the products no longer appear on the shelves. The blocking is also identical at Lidl.
The sector therefore expects growth in sales of private label products, which are increasingly popular with customers.
