Again and once more there were reports of people who suffered heart muscle inflammation (myocarditis) following fighting the Coronavirus had been vaccinated. According to a recent study, which was published in the journal “Circulation”.is an inflammation of the heart muscle following a COVID-19 Infection however, much more often than following vaccination once morest the disease.
The data was analyzed from around 43 million people aged 13 and over in Great Britain. The prerequisite was that the people had been vaccinated once morest the corona virus one or more times. Around six million of these people fell ill with COVID-19 during the test period. A total of 2,861 people developed myocarditis, 617 of whom developed myocarditis immediately following vaccination.
The risk of myocarditis was increased 28 days following receiving the first AstraZeneca vaccination or following the first, second or booster vaccination with the Biontech/Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Nevertheless, it was much lower than the risk of being diagnosed with myocarditis following a COVID infection.
In women over 40, there were two to three cases of myocarditis in every million vaccinated women who were vaccinated with Pfizer’s vaccine. A total of 51 cases of myocarditis have been identified following infection with the coronavirus. In the group of unvaccinated men under 40, there were 16 cases of myocarditis per million infected.
“The risk of developing myocarditis following a COVID-19 vaccine is low,” concludes Professor Nicholas Mills from the University of Edinburgh. “This risk should be weighed once morest the benefits in preventing severe COVID-19 infection,” he said.
