The Canadiens are trying to build through youth, aren’t they? This is why it is not important, in 2022-2023, to see where the betting sites place the CH in relation to the chances of winning the Cup, but it is important to note where the pool of young hopefuls.
This is why it is important to note that the CH have, according to Corey Pronman of The Athletic, the seventh best bank of players (and prospects) in the NHL among players under the age of 23 who belong to an NHL team.
This is how the CH notes its progress compared to other clubs.
But now, following noting the banks of hopes, Corey Pronman recently revealed his list of his top 170 NHL prospects. And of the lot, there are eight players from the Canadian.

Obviously, those who have consulted his article on the CH hope bank will not be surprised at the order in which the CH players are ranked since he had made his top-15 of CH players under 23 .
What should be noted is the number of guys from CH who would break into the top-170 and their position compared to other young people elsewhere in the NHL.

We clearly notice that the trio of young attackers have a mark on the others. Slaf, Caufield and Dach are all in the top-41 while Guhle isn’t even in the top-100.
That doesn’t prevent him from being an excellent prospect, but he’s not of the caliber of the other three… and that puts into perspective the talent of Dach, who hasn’t yet played in Montreal and who we knows less.

But on the other hand, we might perhaps expect to see Slaf ranked higher than 15th. Because the youngster is a top pick overall, 15th may look low.
That said, you should know that Pronman still ranked him ahead of Shane Wright (16th place) and Logan Cooley (17th place). The CH hopeful is the highest ranked in his vintage and he is also ahead of Owen Power (20th place), the first choice of 2021, and his compatriot Simon Nemec (26th place).
let’s remember that Scott Wheeler had rather ranked Slafkovsky behind the choices #2, #3 and #4 of the 2022 vintage, him. It is therefore a classification that may differ from person to person.
