Dedicated to young entrepreneurs and artists… Themed rental housing

Government to supply 2000 households through public offering
20 years of residence… Rent is half the market price

In the future, it is expected that rental housing can be selected according to occupation, age, and lifestyle.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 29th that it would open an open recruitment for ‘themed purchase rental housing’ from the 31st to supply purchased rental housing mainly to consumers. Theme-type purchase rental housing is a new type of public housing that combines the advantages of public purchase rentals, which can be lived for up to 20 years at a rental fee of less than half the market price, and various housing services of private housing. This public offering will be carried out in a scale of 2000 households. It recruits business operators and operators in three ways: planning and operation, commissioning, and specific themes.

The planning and operation method (around 1,000 households) is that if the private sector freely proposes public housing themes, such as ‘Youth Art’, ‘Youth Startup’, ‘Welfare for the Elderly’, and ‘Support for Self-Reliance of the Disabled’, the government builds a new house in the form of a public purchase agreement, and the private sector It is a way of providing specialized services to residents.

A total of 132 households are entrusted with the operation of the consignment system, and the contest will be held in Seoul (187 households), Incheon (29 households), and Gyeonggi (96 households). In this method, the private sector receives a proposal from the private sector for the management theme of a newly purchased new house, and the private sector is selected as the housing operator. Startups related to residential services with no construction experience can also participate.

The specific theme method (around 650 households) is to provide specialized housing services for specific classes such as the disabled, artists, and youth. If the central government or university plans a theme in advance, the government purchases and provides customized new housing. In particular, in this year’s contest, three themed projects will be promoted through prior consultation: support for self-reliance for the disabled (Ministry of Health and Welfare), support for artists (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and support for young entrepreneurs (Yonsei University).

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to announce the final selection project early next year following reviewing the proposed project and discussing the purchase cost. Kim Hong-mok, director of housing and welfare policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, “We will increase the number of high-quality public rental housing that reflects the creativity of the private sector through the themed purchase and rental business.”
