My IG account was confiscated for more than a year, where is my clinic, my business development was hampered because my social media was taken,” said Richard Lee during a press conference related to his case. with Kartika Putri in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta on Monday (29/8/2022).
“I also can’t do education as usual because my Instagram was taken,” he said.

Richard Lee also questioned why his Instagram account had to be confiscated. He felt that he did not necessarily violate the defamation article reported by Kartika Putri.
“My question is if I defamed the IG account it will be immediately confiscated even though it’s not necessarily guilty, for example I said, just my friend Bang Hotman Paris or Denise Chariesta, I suspect they are defaming me. What if I report their account immediately confiscated? Up to one, two years will definitely be very disadvantaged,” explained Richard Lee.
With the confiscation, Richard also felt that his human rights were being taken away. He even compared the cases of other artists whose Instagram accounts were not confiscated.
“I think this can also apply to human rights, human rights are taken away. Even though we are not necessarily guilty. Also, if for example the procedure is like that, I’m sorry, Mbak Nikita Mirzani also has the same case, defamation and exactly the same offense, why isn’t it confiscated? Why was I confiscated and also there are some elements that are legally lacking,” said Richard Lee.
Richard Lee was also upset that his Instagram had been confiscated since he had not been named a suspect. He continues to compare his case with other artists who are also charged with defamation.
“I have to develop my business with a new account, I’m not yet a suspect here, but my account has been confiscated. Meanwhile, there are other artist cases that have been suspected, but the accounts are still fine. Because this is a public domain, let the public judge, ” he said.
Richard Lee insisted that he did not defame Kartika Putri. He alluded to the phrase ‘Mbak Karput has sinned too’ which was the material for Kartika Putri to report herself.
“Of my many IG stories that were reported, it was ‘Join the sin’, ‘Then Mbak Karput sinned’ even though my sentence was quite long and my sentence started with words suggesting the subject, there were many, there was Karput, there was a celebgram, there was an artist. Please, if yes, I think it’s perfect,” he said.
“That’s why I want to invite all Kominfo experts, ITE experts, linguists, criminal experts, let’s discuss this case together. Does this meet an element of defamation? Is there any intention on my part to carry out defamation or is this just education?
