The DeathAdder is certainly Razer’s most iconic mouse. It benefits from a new V3 Pro version which improves more or less everything that was possible to improve. On the program: reduced weight, a new shape and top performance.
The mouse gamer Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro is positioned as one of the manufacturer’s most high-end models. Its unique shape has undergone some adjustments to be even more comfortable and its weight has dropped to just 63 grams, like the excellent G Pro X Superlight de Logitech.
Still wireless (but no longer Bluetooth), it is equipped with a Focus Pro 30K optical sensor and ignores RGB lighting. This new version is offered at the very high price of 160 euros, which puts it in competition with many ultralight models that have already passed through our hands.
A revised shape, but still convincing
We received the DeathAdder V3 Pro for testing in its white livery, which turned out to be particularly successful. The coating used is slightly grainy and thus makes it possible to dispense with a rubber coating to improve the maintenance of the field mouse in the palm of the hand.
Razer has slightly revised its copy regarding the iconic shape of the DeathAdder range. The chassis is thus slightly shorter while being a little higher on the upper part. The overall shape of the mouse has also been revised and simplified to maximize comfort and improve grip.
The most notable differences are found in the much less flared main clicks and the curvature on the left side which has almost completely disappeared. Once in hand, we can only appreciate the excellent work of Razer which offers here a particularly comfortable mouse which falls perfectly in the palm of the hand. We are very close to perfect form here, for right-handers at least…
Back to the main clicks, quite noisy, but convincing in operation. Razer has equipped them with new, more durable optical switches. In addition, we regret the too large amplitude of the buttons in themselves which offer a little too much travel before activation, which thus loses a little reactivity.
The wheel is convincing with notches just marked as it should be and just as quiet. The click of the latter is also satisfactory and allows good responsiveness to use. This wheel is not accompanied by any additional button since the one dedicated to changing sensitivity is relegated under the mouse. This specificity is regularly found on mice oriented e-sports in order to avoid involuntary activation in the middle of the game.
Finally, there are two side buttons on the left edge. Falling perfectly under the thumb, they are reactive and very efficient with just the right amount of flexibility. As mentioned above, the mouse is intended for right-handers and therefore does not have additional buttons on the right edge.
To reach a featherweight of 63 g (64 g for the white version), the DeathAdder V3 Pro must make some concessions, in particular the abandonment of RGB, so dear to the brand. The only LED installed on the front of the mouse will only allow you to know the sensitivity profile in use and whether the battery is below the critical threshold.
Under the mouse, there is a Focus Pro 30K optical sensor and the DPI change button that we mentioned a little above. The DeathAdder V3 Pro is equipped with 4 100% PTFE pads to match its dress. Finally, note that it is supplied with a braided USB-C cable, also matching, and its dongle accompanied by an adapter. Finally, the brand also provides self-adhesive grips to improve the grip of the field mouse.
In summary, the DeathAdder V3 Pro is a mouse that convinces with its ergonomic shape, light weight and neat construction. There’s no doubt that Razer is targeting some big-name models like Logitech’s G Pro X Superlight with a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point mouse.
Still very classic features
The Razer Synapse driver hasn’t offered any real new features for several years now. First of all, there is an interface dedicated to the allocation of mouse buttons that can be personalized at will. It is also from this page that you can connect several devices to the same dongle.
The performance section lets you choose between 5 different sensitivity levels that can therefore range from 100 to 30,000 DPI. The frequency of polling is also customizable, but we advise you as always to leave it at 1000 Hz. The mouse is also compatible with the new dongle 4000 Hz sold separately.
The DeathAdder V3 Pro’s sensor allows you to customize the stall distance asymmetrically. A rather welcome addition that will delight the most demanding players. Finally, the last tab is dedicated to power options to help save some battery.
All the settings mentioned above can be saved in profiles. These may eventually be associated with games or applications for automatic switching depending on the use case. The DeathAdder V3 Pro also has an internal memory so as not to be dependent on Synapse.
Autonomy and connectivity
Unlike some models that have passed through our hands recently, the DeathAdder V3 Pro does not have Bluetooth connectivity. This is not necessarily a problem on a mouse of this type, which is aimed above all at demanding players. Note also that it can also be used wired and that it does not however have a dedicated slot to accommodate the dongle.
The 2.4 GHz connection is as always very convincing. The latency is imperceptible and we didn’t notice any dropouts or other issues during these few days of testing. It is thus impossible to distinguish between a wireless link and a conventional wired link.
On the autonomy side, Razer announces no less than 90 hours away from a power outlet. The brand does not seem to have lied since during our tests, we were able to use the mouse for ten days before the battery dropped below 20%, for several hours a day.
Simply great performance
As we have seen, there is not much to complain regarding the wireless link which is still as convincing at Razer. The brand has also refined the optical sensor that equips the DeathAdder V3 Pro, allowing it to ensure effective tracking on the vast majority of surfaces.
The latter will thus be able to climb to a sensitivity of 30,000 DPI, while cashing in accelerations of 70 G with a speed of 750 IPS. If we refer to these figures, we are quite simply facing the best sensor on the market. Keep in mind, however, that in use the difference with a previous generation sensor will be imperceptible.
During these few days of testing, the DeathAdder V3 Pro was put to the test both in office use and in games. In both cases, it proved to be imperial by offering impeccable tracking and no dropouts. It offers enough precision for creative tasks such as photo editing and allows you to chain eliminations on FPS without any difficulty.
In addition, we also appreciate its light weight which makes it particularly agile. The 64 g of our white model means that the mouse is quickly forgotten once in the heat of the moment and it is a real pleasure to use it. In short, there is nothing to complain regarding the performance of DeathAdder V3 Pro which will know how to support players without flinching, especially in competition.
