With the rivers running out of their course due to the massive floods that hit Pakistan During the last period, and amid the death toll from the monsoon rains exceeding one thousand this year, tragedies that were left behind by the disaster have surfaced.
After a video clip spread over the past two days like wildfire, showing a hotel that was swallowed by torrential torrents, the owner of the edifice broke his silence.
Nasir Khan explained that he lost everything he owned, noting that the torrents “swept away what was left of the hotel”, according to a statement carried by “AFP”.
Swallowed a hotel with 150 rooms!
The stricken hotel, consisting of 150 rooms, appeared in the video, drowning in water under the grounds, so that its features would disappear completely within seconds.
It should be noted that this hotel was also damaged by torrential rains that hit the country in 2010, before disappearing permanently 12 years following the accident.
A disaster in every sense of the word
It is noteworthy that many rivers overflowed in this region, which attracts tourists with its rugged mountains and valleys, destroying a large number of buildings.
This came following the Indus River, which runs through the second most populous region in the country, overflowed, feeding dozens of mountain waterways in the north, many of which overflowed following record precipitation and melting glaciers.
Meanwhile, officials have warned of massive floods that are expected to reach Sindh in the next few days and will worsen the situation of millions affected by the current floods.
Monsoon rains are essential to irrigate crops and replenish rivers and dams in the Indian subcontinent, but they wreak havoc.
