A lot is happening at SK Rapid following the embarrassing European Cup defeat once morest Vaduz. Like President Martin Bruckner, Christoph Peschek will also resign from his position at the Bundesliga soccer club Rapid Vienna.

After hostilities once morest him, a continuation of the work was “not expedient,” said the managing director for business on Sunday morning at a press conference in the Allianz Stadium with tears.

“I don’t know why I should be responsible for the defeat once morest Vaduz (0:1 on Thursday; note),” said Peschek, who was responsible for the commercial area and was the operational manager of the Rapid department head. In the recent past he has felt “a lot of negative energy” around the club, he said and did not paint a good picture of the mood. “I hope that with my step more constructiveness will return.”

President Martin Bruckner announced his resignation yesterday, Saturday. “There was a lot of hostility,” said the outgoing president in the Sky interview. Hans Krankl commented on the resignations at SK Rapid on Sunday.

Krankl rules out a return to Rapid

“Something must have happened internally. There have always been problems with decisions. They disagreed internally. I think that’s why the resignation wasn’t a panic reaction, because the economic part has nothing to do with the sporting part,” said Sky expert Hans Krankl regarding the resignations at Rapid.

In his farewell statement, Christoph Peschek also mentioned the conversation with Hans Krankl. “I met him in the last few days. My impression was positive. I don’t know what problems they had internally,” explained Krankl.
