In a logical follow-up to the recent development of its gas strategy (Gas Master Plan) echoed by Financial Afrik, Mauritania has just launched – through the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM) – a limited international consultation for the study feasibility of its network of offshore gas pipelines.
The study in question comes opportunely in view of the “first gas” of phase 1 of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) mega gas field scheduled for 2023 and the imminence of the signing of the final investment decision (DFI) which must take place before the end of 2022. Similarly, the study of Mauritanian offshore gas pipelines should be put into perspective with the promises of development of the gigantic offshore gas field of BirAllah whose initial reserves are estimated between 50 and 80Tcf.
