The essays of Soheil Ayari

The BMW 5 Series is a large sedan that has been well established on the market for many years and regularly faces the Mercedes E Class or Audi A6. As is the case with these competitors, it is also available in a sports version called M5 following passing into the hands of Motorsport. At the start of its career, it developed 600 hp, before experiencing developments such as the Competition with 625 hp and now the CS, the most radical version with 635 hp.

Aesthetically, there is no real difference except for this exclusive body color called “Frozen Deep Green metallic” as well as the 20-inch bronze rims. Finally, the main one is in the series tires with Pirelli P-Zero Corsa, which are soft rubbers. This M5 also underwent a slight slimming cure with a loss of 70 kg on the scale thanks to the use of carbon.

On the mechanical level, we find under the hood the bi-turbo V8 which now develops 635 hp, 10 hp more than the Competition. The torque value of 750 Nm does not change. Performance is top notch with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. The suspensions have been reworked, but above all this M5 retains one of its main particularities, namely the possibility for the driver to choose the type of distribution of power and torque either in 4-wheel drive, in 4-wheel drive sport or in pure drive.

All this is therefore very attractive on paper and worthy of a real sports car, but enough to seduce our house driver Soheil Ayari? Answer on the Ferté Gaucher circuit.

Price of our test model: €207,085

The BMW M5 CS is sold “basic” at a price of €199,900. One would think that it would be equipped for this tariff with all possible refinements. Well no ! Thus, our model was notably equipped in addition to the all-leather interior with red contrast (€3,750), heat-insulating glazing (€470), ceramic interior applications (€660), the TVplus function (€1,250 ), and maintenance for 3 years or 200,000 km (€985), i.e. a total amount of €7,185 in options for a total bill of €207,085.
