Expected for the end of the year, the next installment in the Need For Speed series has not yet been unveiled by Electronic Arts. Today, the first images from this game would have leaked and have partly confirmed the latest rumors.
No news, good news ?
The new installment of the street racing saga Need For Speed is expected for the end of the year but has still not been presented by EA. While we were waiting for news for last Julyfinally the publisher did not reveal anything and leaves the fans waiting for any information.
Potentially titled “Unbound”, this opus can only be approached through more or less recurring rumors. Rumors that are beginning to be confirmed with the very recent leak which provides the first images of the software.
A more mainstream game?
According to the information which circulates with insistence on Reddit and which had already been quoted before by the insiders Tom Henderson and Jeff Grubb, we note above all the desire of Electronic Arts to make its license a game more general public than at l accustomed. If Need For Speed wants to be quite arcade, several episodes have a fairly mature universe with street races and clashes with the police.
This new opus would like to be more general public, even more “young” public with a drawn side and more cartoonish visual effects. In any case, this is what we see with the first images unveiled on Reddit. Always on the same site, an user reveals the information extracted from one of his friends and employee of the publisher. Rumor obliges, nothing is official here, so we take what follows with a grain of salt.
The software would skip the events of drifts and drags, but would mark the return of Speedcross. Side improvement of the vehicles, the software would propose a simplified system similar to that of Forza Horizon and its rating system, intended to make things easier for young audiences.
Regarding the story, the emphasis would be on inclusiveness, like Need For Speed Heat with prominent female characters and greater cultural diversity.
The user further specifies that EA would provide a one-year follow-up at best depending on the game’s sales. The development team is made up mostly of new faces in order to bring a fresh perspective to the license, working hand in hand with only a few ex-Criterion and Ghost employees.
Finally, the game is still maintained for the year 2022. Recently, Jeff Grubb announced on Twitch the arrival of this new opus for December of this year. Case to follow.
