10 Chambers has been working on a new game for 2 years – it will be a co-op shooter once more
10 Chambers is known for this: Development studio 10 Chambers should be familiar to many shooter fans – especially if you like things a little harder and more challenging than in mainstream shooters like Call of Duty or Battlefield. They are indeed behind the hardcore co-op horror shooter GTFO (Get the fuck off). While the game has a reputation for being unforgiving, newbie-unfriendly, and sometimes frustrating at times, it’s also a real rare find for anyone who wants an experience outside of mainstream mainstream shooters and enjoys teamwork without compromise.
If you don’t know the game yet, you can get a first impression of GTFO here:
At Gamescom 2022, 10 Chambers gave us a first look at their plans for the future following GTFO. What can we expect from the studio for the sequel?
This should be of interest to many fans of shooters and GTFO: In short: 10 Chambers not only continually improves the GTFO experience and offers additional content, they are already working on their next game – and have been for nearly two years!
Who did we talk to? Our contact was Ulf Andersson, creative director and CEO of 10 Chambers. The information therefore came from the highest authority.
Here’s what 10 Chambers revealed regarding the new project: Anderson apparently was unwilling and unable to give much information yet. But some first details were still given. Here is an overview of the essentials:
- First and foremost: it will be a co-op first-person shooter with elements of heat and a techno twist similar to Cyberpunk or the Blade Runner books.
- No title or project name has been revealed yet.
- The project has been underway for almost two years.
- It would be a live game, supported by frequent updates over a long period of time.
- Everything 10 Chambers learned from GTFO should be incorporated into the game. Many of those working on this project have practically trained on GTFO.
- The game will not be an MMO and will not have an open world. You need to be able to get into the action quickly and not have to travel long distances to get there.
- We will probably follow a development path similar to that of GTFO, ie a long development process including early access.
What does this mean for GTFO? Now that we know that 10 Chambers is doing another side game, more than one might wonder what the consequences are for the current workhorse. Is GTFO in danger?
Andersson raised the alert on this point. The studio has grown over the years, GTFO will not suffer from this new project and will not be neglected. However, he also said priorities might change at some point. And if you’re telling a story that never ends, that wouldn’t be the best thing either. But even if something ended, it wouldn’t mean the game would disappear or be scrapped. For the foreseeable future, GTFO should therefore definitely continue to spearhead 10 Chambers and continue without cuts.
