After the spread of the Corona virus and the increase in infections around the world, scientists have been studying the long-term effects of the virus, and some research has revealed an increased risk of neurological and psychological conditions following Corona.

People who have contracted the Corona virus face an increased risk of neuropsychiatric conditions such as psychosis, nervous attacks and dementia two years following infection, according to a study conducted by the University of Oxford, according to Russia Today.

According to the study published in the Lancet Psychiatry journal, anxiety and depression were more common following infection with corona, although they usually subsided within two months of infection.

According to a statement issued by the study’s lead author, Paul Harrison, Professor of Psychiatry, “The findings have important implications for patients and health services because they indicate new cases of neurological conditions associated with COVID-19 infection that are likely to occur long following the epidemic has subsided.”

The researchers examined the risks of 14 different disorders in more than 1.25 million patients, ranging from children to the elderly who were mostly in the United States, two years following infection with corona and compared them with the electronic records of regarding 1.25 million people with other respiratory infections.

The researchers found that children were 260 out of every 10,000 people more likely to develop epilepsy or seizures within two years of contracting the coronavirus, compared to those who had another respiratory infection by 130 out of every 10,000 people. It is still rare, with an incidence of 18 out of every 10,000 people.
