Kuwait City: Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development Dr. Khalid Mahdi. He said that international recommendations are being followed in this regard. He was speaking at a symposium organized by the Secretariat General of the Council titled ‘Principles for Empowerment of Women in the Private Sector’. Mahdi announced the launch of the Kuwait Women’s Empowerment Platform under the slogan ‘Kuwaiti Leaders for Change’.
This is part of molding women who are fit to lead the country. Mahdi urged Kuwaiti women with experience in the public or private sector to use this platform to update their complete work history in their accounts. That way the work team can see and evaluate it. He pointed out that the private sector in the country is hiring women, training them and giving them opportunities to hold higher positions. Khalid Shawan, Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program, said that Kuwait has taken several important steps to implement the Comprehensive National Plan. He also mentioned that coordination has been done to collaborate with the United Nations to promote women empowerment. The implementation of the vision of ‘New Kuwait 2035’ will be accelerated by increasing the representation of women in leadership positions.
