Yambu: AFC Madina won the one-day sevens football tournament organized by Yambu Indian Football Association (YIFA) in collaboration with Yambu Malayali Association (YMA) to help four expatriate kidney patients. AFC Madina won the match at Yambu Red Wa Flood Lit Stadium by defeating RCFC Yambu by three goals to none. YIFA – H.M. Eight prominent teams from Yambu and Madinah competed for the R Super Cup. A large number of people turned up to watch the match which turned out to be a huge excitement among the diaspora in Yambu. Madina and Yambu teams were swapped in the over-40 exhibition match to coincide with the tournament. Medina team won. The crowd received the seniors’ match with a standing ovation.
Best player of the tournament Jamal (AFC Madina), best defender Aju (AFC Madina), best playmaker Fahud (RCFC Yambu), best goalkeeper Nasser (AFC Madina) ) were also selected. Top scorer Anees (FC Sana’ia) and Youssef (AFC Madina) who was selected as the best player of the final were awarded special prizes. YMA President Salim Vengara inaugurated the event. YIFA President Siraj Musliarakat presided over the function.
