Geneva is renewing the “Locally yours” campaign this year. It allows the population of the canton to acquire local products for a 20% discount per purchase from more than 130 local producers.
The platform developed by the company “GenèveAvenue” is online from Thursday. It makes it possible to promote quality offers, oriented on the notions of local products and sustainability in the field of consumption, announces the canton in a press release.
When a customer buys a voucher on the site, he will benefit, thanks to State aid, from a 20% discount (but a maximum of 300 francs per offer). This year, the sum allocated to stimulate local consumption amounts to just over 790,000 francs, ie the balance of the amount available for the project.
The operation will last until the end of the year or until the full use of the budget. For the record, the overall budget amounted to 2.7 million francs over two years.
Success last year
In 2021, nearly 8,500 people had purchased local products as part of “Locally yours”. The operation aimed to revive the local economy through the consumption of local products in the context of Covid-19. More than 32,000 vouchers were sold for a total value of 6.3 million francs.
The canton participated with a subsidy of 1.9 million francs, including a 10% added value in favor of the producer, i.e. nearly 70% of the total allocated budget. Despite a soft start during the summer period, the sale really took off in September to experience an exponential rise until December 31, the date of the end of the operation. The end-of-year celebrations fully contributed to this surge in demand.
