Florida man accused of trying to ‘buy’ a girl for $100,000 at a grocery store

A Florida man was arrested Thursday following allegedly offering to buy a woman’s daughter for $100,000 while at a grocery store.incident that occurred following in 2018 he tried to do the same with another woman’s eldest son for $200,000 dollars.

The Port Orange Police Department said the incident occurred on August 16 at a Winn-Dixie grocery store in Port Orange, which is northeast of Orlando and north of New Smyrna Beach. when the man identified as Hellmuth Kolb tried to buy a minor for $100,000 from her parents, reported FOX 35 Orlando.

“Due to the clear concern of the parents that someone insisted on trying to buy their daughter at a grocery store, we were notified. Unfortunately for him, we were able to confirm through his parole officer that Mr. Kolb is currently on parole for similar issues, and should not have any contact with minor children,” police said, adding that it was booked into the Volusia County Secondary Jail.

A 2018 report compiled by FOX 35 noted that Kolb was arrested that year for allegedly approaching a woman and her 8-year-old son inside a Walmart store to offer her $200,000 to buy it. A month before that incident he made a similar offer to another mother and daughter.

Online records indicated that in 2018 Kolb was arrested on an assault charge following he allegedly touched a child’s arm inside a Walmart in Port Orange. and said her skin was “soft as ice cream”. The boy’s father intervened during that incident, the arrest report said.

Florida’s online sex offender registry noted that Kolb failed to contest a false imprisonment charge in 2019.
