Although it claims to promote tolerance and diversity, Kathy Hochul has just starred in a non-democratic controversy just following completing her first year as governor of New York, position to which she arrived following the resignation of Andrew Cuomo and that she hopes to keep if she is elected in November.
Lawyer Hochul, a former congresswoman who will turn 64 tomorrow Saturday and who in the past defined herself as an “independent Democrat”, is leading the polls for the upcoming elections once morest the Republican challenger, Representative Lee Zeldin (NY-1).
Hochul, the first female governor in New York history, sparked controversy Monday night by saying political opponents like congressional candidate Zeldin should leave the state, during a rally on the eve of a special Hudson Valley election for Capitol Hill (NY-19).
“We are fighting for democracy. We are fighting to return the government to the people and out of the hands of dictators.” Hochul said at an event Monday in Kingston, seconds before acting righteously like an autocrat.
Donald “Trump, Zeldin and (Marc) Molinaro: Just get on a bus and go to Florida where you belong. OKAY? Get out of here. Because they don’t represent our values.” Hochul proclaimed, quoted by New York Post.
“Wow @KathyHochul. You’re losing consciousness, ma’am. I will not accept your psycho request to leave New York.“, Zeldin replied on Twitter Monday night.
“Really @KathyHochul? I’m not a New Yorker!? You sound exactly like your predecessor. I lost my father in this state, raised my children here, and have given every day in service to my community. If we disagree with your corrupt government, are we not New Yorkers? #Shameful”, Molinaro also tweeted on Monday in response to the governor’s fiery comments.
Since then the criticism has continued, but Hochul has not reconsidered his controversial statements. The next day, Tuesday, Republican Molinaro was defeated by Democratic candidate Pat Ryan. In 2018 Molinaro had already lost to Cuomo/Hochul for the governorship.
This morning Molinaro took up criticism of Hochul: “Telling people that they are not welcome in the homes, communities, families that they helped build is shameful.”
In the state of New York, the Democrats are a resounding majority in a proportion of 7 to 1 once morest the republicans in terms of registered voters.
