From September 12 to 17, the daily Economiste celebrates its 10 years of existence in the world of the Beninese press. As a prelude to this celebration, the members of the organizing committee were in front of the press yesterday in the premises of the said daily. An opportunity for Léonard Dossou, Managing Director of l’Economiste to give a brief history of his newspaper and to lift a corner of the veil on the activities that will furnish this pewter jubilee. According to him, the recording was made in 2007 but the Economist newspaper really started its activities in 2012 as the first Beninese daily specializing in economic, financial and stock market information. Thus, with the support of its partners, the Economist has made its merry way and is now 10 years old. “Several activities have been selected to fill the program: the 1st Economist’s Forum on the theme ‘Efficiency of economic and financial information for sustainable growth in sub-Saharan Africa'”, specified Léonard Dossou. This forum will be moderated by internationally renowned panelists such as Lionel Zinsou, Kaled Igué… In addition to this forum, several no less important activities are planned such as the health walk which starts at the Unafrica crossroads and ends at the Azalaï hotel, the financial market, blood donation and donations to orphans…
This pewter jubilee thus opens a new era for the Economist which nourishes the ambition to cover all French-speaking African countries. But while waiting to realize this dream, the first Beninese body specializing in economic, financial and stock market information has already established itself in Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger and Senegal.
