they thought no one was going to see them but everything was filmed, they risk a fine of up to €4,000

The many prevention campaigns are obviously not enough. This Thursday, our colleagues from the Gazet van Antwerpen indeed revealed a video captured at the Hakendover level crossing, in the district of Tienen. On the images, we see a group of cyclists crossing the tracks voluntarily… while the light is red.

Thinking that no one would see them, the group looks at the tracks, hesitates then ignores the barriers to engage and cross to the other side. But the cyclists were not alone since a witness filmed the entire scene.

And as a reminder, the fines for deliberately crossing a closed level crossing range from 320 to 4,000 euros! And it’s a lesser evil when you know the dramatic consequences it can have.
