Search at Trump’s house: a key court document will be released, but redacted

The document, supposed to detail the reasons which led the Ministry of Justice to investigate and which might reveal the identity of certain actors in the case, must be made public by Friday noon (4 p.m. GMT), decided federal judge Bruce Reinhart.

But most of these elements will probably remain secret, Mr. Reinhart having accepted the request of the Ministry of Justice, which argued a “compelling” need to redact important parts of the document in the interest of the investigations.

On Monday, Bruce Reinhart ordered that the account be at least partially released, citing unprecedented public interest in the search of the home of a former US president.

Authorities had opposed its release, saying it would require redacting “so extensive that the rest of the leaked text would be devoid of any significant content.”

On August 8, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, seizing boxes of confidential documents that the Republican had not returned to the authorities despite multiple requests from them.

Donald Trump, who is flirting with the idea of a candidacy for the presidential election of 2024, does not have words strong enough to denounce this search which he considers to be the illustration of a “witch hunt” on aiming.

On Thursday, the tycoon once once more claimed his innocence on his Truth Social network, accusing “radical left-wing Democratic prosecutors” of “illegally raiding [sa] maison».

“They even broke into my safe, an unspeakable act!” he was indignant.
