A cry from the heart to avoid the eviction of a trailer

A couple from Forestville, on the North Shore, are trying to convince Quebec to allow them to leave their trailer year-round at a campsite in the Forestville ZEC, as has been the case for more than 15 years.

In 2003, Nancy Therrien and Dany Langelier chose to invest more than $55,000 in this trailer to obtain written authorization from the ZEC de Forestville to leave it in their campsite year-round.

“We, at the time, when we got the authorization in 2003, we had this trailer built, because it was a requirement on the ZEC contract at the time. We had it built at Maisons Ouellet in Rivière-du-Loup. It was a bit like our retirement dream for my husband and me,” said the resident of Forestville.

But that costly ZEC deal fell through due to a 2016 tightening of regulations surrounding campsites in the province’s controlled zones.

“Why this year it is becoming more urgent is that the decision will be taken within a few days, perhaps a few weeks maximum,” believes Nancy Therrien, who fears that she will soon receive a notice from Quebec obliging her to withdraw his trailer.

Vacationers feel aggrieved, those who claim to have respected the requirements of the ZEC of the time, especially since they believe they cannot recover the money invested by selling the trailer.

“The principle is that we had the authorization, we are committed to all points. We are not fraudsters, far from it, we did everything that had to be done, in the rules of the art, as they say, ”defended the Forestvilloise.

The couple does not rule out taking legal action once morest the ZEC of Forestville and will take legal means if there is no agreement.

“But I will not agree to leave and be forced to sell my trailer at such a price, when I have the right and I was made to invest,” Nancy Therrien ignited.

By email, the Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks wrote that it was unable to answer questions from TVA Nouvelles on Thursday, since they also concern the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
