Part of the Russian-occupied Zaporiza nuclear power plant has been disconnected from the Ukrainian power grid, Ukrainian state-owned nuclear power plant Energoatom said on the 25th local time.

Energoatom said on Telegram that “invaders have completely disconnected the Zaporiza nuclear power plant from the grid,” and that “this is the first time in the history of the Zaporiza nuclear power plant.”

Energoatom said that following the power line was damaged in a fire between the Japorija nuclear power plant and a nearby thermal power plant, two out of six reactors were shut down and separated from the power grid, and work to connect one of the two to the power grid once more. explained that it is in progress.

Ukraine believes that it is trying to replace the power grid in order to bring power from the Zaporiza nuclear power plant occupied by Russia to Russian-occupied territories such as Crimea.

But Russia’s defense ministry said the incident was caused by Ukraine’s bombardment of the Zaporiza nuclear power plant.

At the Japoriza nuclear power plant, shelling continued this month on the nuclear power plant facility and the surrounding area, but the subject of the bombardment has not been revealed.

Russia and Ukraine are shifting responsibility to each other and calling for an inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), but the actual inspection has not been carried out.

IAEA Secretary-General Rafael Grossi said in an interview with French broadcaster that “I hope to be able to get there very soon.”
