A Jordanian doctor ended her life by jumping from one of the upper floors of the University Hospital of Jordan in the capital, Amman. Before jumping from the window, she wrote on Twitter: “Remember me for good…or even forget me… This is so forgotten.”
Doctor Mirona Asfour, born in 1997, a first-year anesthesia resident, always expressed her dissatisfaction with the specialty of anesthesia and preferred the specialty of women, and she always talked regarding her decision to end her life on social media.

For his part, a Jordanian security source told Al-Arabiya.net that the security services found the body of a female doctor inside the University of Jordan Hospital, and the body was transferred to forensic medicine to determine the cause of death, while the security services opened an investigation into the incident.
The head of Jordan University Hospital, Dr. Jamal Massad, revealed that at approximately eight thirty in the evening on Wednesday, he lost contact with the deceased doctor, as she was summoned to the operating room to do her work, but no one was able to contact her.
He added in press statements that within half an hour of losing contact with the doctor, who works as an anesthetist in the hospital regarding a month and a half ago, everyone started searching for her, and the hospital security and security services were informed of her loss.
And he indicated that an attempt was made to track it through surveillance cameras in the hospital, and a personal search for it began by the cadres and co-workers, and the places where it was expected to be examined, until someone noticed an object lying on the roof of the radiology building on the ground floor, and it turned out that it was Doctor’s corpse.
The director of the hospital continued, “The search continued on the floors, and a table was found on the ninth floor without its location, and on the surface of the table there were traces of shoes,” explaining that this was at two o’clock in the morning of Thursday.
The doctor’s family statement
The family of the late doctor Mirona Asfour called on the media and social media activists to stop circulating rumors regarding the causes of their daughter’s death, calling on everyone to pray for their daughter for mercy and forgiveness.
The family said in a press statement that it had received many publications and questions from journalists regarding the death, and some of what was circulated were pure lies, which added to the family’s pain.
The family said that their daughter, Mirona, was suffering from severe depression and sadness following the death of her mother, especially since Mirona was the only daughter of her parents and was very attached to her mother, who died before the end of the year 2020, shortly before her graduation.
The family pointed out that although they tried to help their daughter to overcome the state of sadness and depression, the disease managed to overcome her.
