Al Ain, 25th of August / WAM/ Female students from the United Arab Emirates University won first places in the 2022 Korean and Arabic comic book translation competition, which was organized by the Korean Arab Society and the Korean Book Council for Children and Youth under the auspices of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul, Korea.
The students of the Korean sub-specialty in the Department of Languages and Literature at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences participated in this competition virtually, and the student Maha Al-Mansoori won the first place, while the student Shamael Al-Murshidi won the second place, and the two students Fatima Al-Naqbi and Bashayer Al-Yafei won the third place.
Dr. Mozah Al Tunaiji, Head of the Department of Languages and Literature at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, said it is important to give students the opportunity to participate in this kind of international competition, which is what the UAE University is keen on supporting and enriching students’ experiences.
She expressed her pride in these achievements of the university’s students, noting that this victory is part of a series of successes that our students have experienced and achieved first places in, which highlights the role played by the UAE University in preparing distinguished students in their field of specialization.
For their part, the students considered that this win is an important opportunity to apply their academic studies and obtain international experiences by allowing participation in such competitions. They also considered the competition a unique challenge to test skills and experience.
It is worth noting that the award ceremony of the Korean and Arabic comic book translation competition was held on Thursday, August 18, virtually, where 31 students from the Korean Language Program from several universities participated in the competition, which included the United Arab Emirates University, the University of Jordan, Ain Shams University and Aswan University from Egypt, and students of the Arabic language department from 6 Korean universities.
