Hyundai and Kia recall 280,000 vehicles over fire risk

The recall affects 245,030 Hyundai Palisade SUVs and 36,417 Kia Telluride SUVs, both from 2020 to 2022, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Manufacturers have advised owners of the recalled cars to park them outdoors and away because they can catch fire, NHTSA added.

They are equipped with an accessory that is vulnerable to moisture, which can cause a short circuit and lead to a fire.

Korean manufacturers have reported 25 incidents in the United States and Canada, but no accidents or injuries.
