For Laurie Godard, resident ofAische-en-Refail, the summer was rather studious. On the program: preparation for the Dutch and French lessons that she will give at the start of the school year: “There, I was on my computer, preparing activities to kiss the ice cream in the first lesson! The students will not know me and I will not know them either. It will be convenient to get to know each other.“
Until Soon, the young woman worked in legal publishing, but this office job no longer suited her. “I had always kept teaching as a spare tire. I had studied languages, English Dutch and I thought it would always serve me well, but I didn’t think I would become a teacher so early in my career.“
In Dutch, Laurie Godard is stuck, on the other hand, she did not do the aggregation and is therefore not trained to become a teacher. She knows, however, that she likes the job: when she was younger, she helped her mother a lot, a primary teacher, and has very good memories of her. It was during an informal conversation with the director of the Da Vinci college in Perwez that the idea of joining the teaching team took shape and it was a phone call that sped things up. “Last June, the school principal contacted me because she knew that I wanted to reorient myself. I only had a few days to give my answer.“
A few hours before the start of the school year, some apprehensions remain, but the motivation that this new challenge outweighs the stress. With this professional reorientation, the new teacher also hopes to establish a better balance between her professional life and her family life.
