The androgynous look of Stromae on the cover of GQ breaks all the codes

People and royalty

Stromae is on the cover of the September issue of the magazine Hype by GQ US. And, as usual, the artist has decided to completely break the codes.

A shoot that throws

The Belgian singer was already renowned for blurring the boundaries of the genre and inventing a style in his image. This time, the maestro goes even further by offering a shoot according to his own rules. In the program ? Loose long hair, flower petals and lascivious poses in black and white in virile-feminine outfits.

For an intimate interview regarding his life

the one who loves “embody characters” rather than making diary-style songs regarding his life, he confides in an intimate interview with GQ. The journalists of the famous magazine met him in Brussels, in the cozy premises of his label, and seem disarmed by the disarming honesty of the singer. The latter confides in particular on the production of his latest album Multitude, or even his burn-out.

“I come from a European culture that wants creation to necessarily go through suffering,” he declares. “However, I would like to prove that it is possible to compose differently. During the recording of Multitude, I certainly managed to create according to ultra-framed office hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in order to take advantage of my son, but I always find it difficult to move towards more light, purely festive, like “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang. At home, there is often a background of sadness. »

Nuanced and sincere, this deep melancholy says he is “not very fond of Jim Carrey films” and prefers The Truman Show at The Mask. All is said.
