Anuna De Wever leaves the environmental movement Youth for Climate

“I will now contribute to new exciting projects with other actors”, she indicates in her post, without however specifying the nature of the said projects. “I’ve been with YFC since day one, when there were four of us sitting on a couch, with too many beers and a big dream. Today it’s become part of a global movement that has grown into a powerful political force”, explains Anuna De Wever.

The latter has become an example for many young Belgians wanting to denounce global warming. The marches for the climate, in particular, inspired several thousand people.

“I have learned a lot over the past few years as a young activist. I have celebrated victories and learned from my many mistakes. I am beginning to understand where my contribution can be most needed”, explains Anuna De Wever. “I want to continue to support movements and activists who are not as privileged as me.”

Her social media post ends with a call for change in favor of large-scale politics that takes climate change seriously and a promise that she will continue to fight for it.
