US to give $3 billion worth of arms to Ukraine | US to give 300 crore dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine

Washington: The US has once more offered massive military aid to Ukraine, which is resisting the Russian invasion following six months. Arms worth 300 million dollars are regarding to be handed over. It is indicated that defense systems will be given priority this time.

The arms transfer is under the Ukraine Security Assistance Program (USAI) created by the US Congress. The weapons currently in the possession of the US forces will be replaced by newly built ones. So it will take months for Ukraine to get the weapons. Since the invasion began on February 24, the US has provided $1.06 billion worth of weapons.

Apart from the US, Germany will also hand over arms worth 50 million dollars. Air defense systems, rocket launchers and missiles will also be provided. Russia, which has been on the offensive for weeks to occupy the eastern part of Ukraine, has gained the upper hand, but has not achieved its goal. Ukrainian forces continue to resist in Luhansk and Donetsk provinces.

Ukraine celebrates Independence Day amid threat of Russian attack

Kyiv: Independence Day celebration in Ukraine following six months of bloody Russian occupation. Russia launched an attack on Ukraine on February 24.

Public gatherings, including in the capital city, were banned in anticipation of a massive Russian attack on Independence Day. President Volodymyr Zelensky urged people to be vigilant. A small crowd gathered in Kiev’s central square destroyed a Russian tank and artillery, according to reports.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day. Ukraine declared its independence in 1991 with the fall of Soviet Russia. Meanwhile, six months into the Russian offensive, thousands have been killed and millions left homeless.
