Thunderbolt, Xiaomi closes all its stores in France!

Xiaomi Stores are closing in France. A sudden decision that affects almost all of the brand’s stores in our region.

Earlier this week, we reported that Xiaomi was chaining the bad news. The famous Chinese brand is definitely going through a complicated period, with the closure of almost all Xiaomi Stores in France. For the past few hours, many shops have been announcing that they are forced to close their doors, without further details. They invite users to contact the Chinese manufacturer’s customer service at the following number: 0 805 37 09 16.

All the shops present in France seem to be affected by this rather sudden decision. Only the Mi Store on the Champs-Élysées escapes this measure. So these are six of the seven Xiaomi Stores in France which are suddenly closing their doors. As a reminder, the manufacturer was physically present in Lille, Lyon, Toulouse and had several stores in Île-de-France (Vélizy-Villacoublay, Sebastopol (Paris), Forum des Halles (Paris) and the Champ Elysées (Paris)).

A sudden and brutal decision for employees

Contacted by us, Xiaomi explains to us that in reality, it is the company Tell Me which is the manager of the Xiaomi Store in France. Except she was placed under judicial liquidation in July 2022. Also, the Chinese brand now looking for a buyer and is therefore not directly responsible for the closure of French shops. And suddenly, we suspect, for the moment, no company has come forward to resume the activity.

“Xiaomi has taken note of the decision of the Court of Justice of Créteil, placing the company Tell Me, manager of Xiaomi Stores in France, in compulsory liquidation, Xiaomi is working to quickly resume normal activities.

Since our official arrival in France in 2018, we have taken care to build strong relationships with our users, Xiaomi Fans and partners, and we thank them all for their support. French users and Xiaomi Fans can still discover Xiaomi products on our official website mi.com/fr, which has experienced strong growth since the Covid crisis, and at our various partners online, in stores and with operators.

Partner of Xiaomi in France, Tell Me has 43 employees whose future appears uncertain today. The company claimed a turnover of more than 9 million euros in 2021. Regarding the store located on the Champs-Élysées, it is another partner who takes care of its management.

By choosing not to have its own stores – which makes it possible to limit the financial risks -, Xiaomi now finds itself at the heart of a bad buzz that it would have done well without.
