► The home visit to Sadio Mané in Liverpool.

Salihamidzic: “At the end of the conversation, Sadio said, ‘Yeah, I like it all. I want to go to Munich!’ Of course I was hot then. We hadn’t talked regarding numbers, but it was clear that we might win him over and then I pushed on.”

► The photos from the bar in Mallorca with Mané consultant Björn Bezemer.

Salihamidzic: “I visited Björn Bezemer in Mallorca, where he lives. That was the first time we spoke specifically (regarding numbers/ed.). We ate something and laid the foundation stone. I then said to him: Let’s go somewhere for a drink. That also has something to do with the emotions and then we had a drink.”

Did the photos bother him? Salihamidzic: “Yes, of course it bothered me because they showed something that wasn’t the case at all.”

► Bayern’s interest in Erling Haaland and whether the sums requested were too much for Bayern.

Salihamidzic: “We’ve had a few talks, of course, that’s no secret. We had things in mind that we might do. In the end it didn’t work out for various reasons. I don’t want to blame the player for that either. He has chosen what he thinks is better for him. So I think we made good decisions. Of course we’ll see following this season or two. The guys we have here are exceptional.”

► Whether Ronaldo was an issue at Bayern…

Salihamidzic: “When you see how our offensive is occupied – even without Robert Lewandowski – it’s just difficult from a sporting and financial point of view. We have eight players for the four positions… We have seasoned top players who are in the prime of footballing age. We have talent that we want to give playing time to, so we all voted to go through with our plan. So that was out of the question for us. We are very happy as we are occupied!”

In “Phrasen Mäher” Salihamidzic also looks back very emotionally on his childhood in Bosnia and his escape from the war to Germany.

You can find the whole interview at Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud and Deezer. There you can also listen to and subscribe to all the Phrasen Mäher episodes that have been released to date!
