Han Dong-hoon, “People will decide” on the impeachment argument in the wild

Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon answers questions from lawmakers at a plenary meeting of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 24th.

On the 24th, Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon said, “Impeachment is a matter for the Democratic Party to decide in the process,” and “I will follow the constitutional process.”

Minister Han met with reporters before attending the plenary session of the National Assembly’s Legislative and Judiciary Committee on the followingnoon of the same day and answered a question regarding his feelings regarding the impeachment theory raised by some parts of the Democratic Party.

“However, it is the state’s duty to protect the people by investigating important crimes,” he said.

In response to the question that his attitude is ignoring the National Assembly during a recent inquiry at the National Assembly, he said, “I think the public will have looked into it in detail and will evaluate it.” added.

Minister Han had a sharp battle with Democratic lawmakers in relation to the revision of the enforcement ordinance related to the prosecution’s investigative authority at the plenary meeting of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee held at the National Assembly on the 22nd.

The Democratic Party defined the Ministry of Justice’s legislative notice as an ‘enforcement decree coup’ and put pressure on a minister. Minister Han confronted the case taut, citing the case of independent lawmaker Min Hyung-bae, who disguised himself from the Democratic Party in the process of complete inspection. In the ensuing battle, there were also several wars of word between the ruling and opposition parties over the minister’s attitude to answer. Afterwards, some of the Democratic Party, including Rep. Kim Yong-min, took issue with the attitude of Minister Han and raised the argument that he should go beyond dismissal and impeachment.
