Scuderia AlphaTauri Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly says he is in control of his destiny following 2023 and says it is too early to think regarding the future.

After being relegated from Red Bull Racing to Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) midway through the 2019 season, Pierre Gasly regained confidence and developed into a team leader role at Faenza.

In May of this year, Red Bull Racing extended the contract with Sergio Perez for two years, confirming that it will go with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez until 2024.

This meant that Pierre Gasly’s return to Red Bull Racing was officially closed.

Pierre Gasly enjoys the opportunity to take his future into his own hands following being released from his Red Bull contract following 2023, but says it’s too early to ponder his next move.

“I think we have to be open. Of course we have to have discussions with Red Bull. They will be the first to know the situation,” said Gasly.

“Of course, it’s also the first time in my career that I actually have the choice to decide what happens.”

“It’s still early days, we’re only midway through the 2022 season. When the time is right, we will assess what the best options are for the future.”

In 2021, Scuderia AlphaTauri, battling for fifth place in the midfield, finished sixth in the constructors’ standings with Pierre Gasly scoring 110 of the 142 points alongside inexperienced teammate Yuki Tsunoda. helped secure it.

Pierre Gasly feels he has fulfilled his team leader role well and believes his second stint at Faenza has made him a better all-around driver. This will allow him to attempt a move to a top team when his contract with AlphaTauri expires in 2023. he thinks.

“I am much more complete,” explained Gasly.

“It’s a complex sport, so I personally feel that it’s a lot more complete than when I started.”

“It’s not just regarding driving. It’s regarding leading the team in the direction you want it to be, bringing people together towards the same goal and motivating everyone.”

“It’s a tough sport. You’ll see people mentally exhausted from all the travel and work following two or three races.”

“Being a leader is not just regarding driving a race track and going fast. Leading a team brings the energy, mentality and self-imposed work ethic to the rest of the crew and the package you have. You need to get the best out of it, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

“At the end of the day, the difference is that I want to be in a place that gives me the opportunity to be competitive. Having an enabling package is the most important thing for me, because my only motivation in this sport is to win, podium and be at the front of the grid.”
